How We Used AI In to Create a Deepfake Marketing Video

Written by Mike Kaput | Aug 26, 2021 5:25:00 PM

Deepfakes are AI-generated videos that realistically mimic humans.

One example is a deepfake of Tom Cruise that blew up on TikTok.

The AI technology that makes deepfakes possible is becoming increasingly affordable and accessible for individuals and brands.

One deepfake product, Synthesia, recently came across our radar.

Synthesia claims to wave goodbye to cameras, microphones, and actors by allowing you to create professional AI videos from text.

You type in a script, drop in some visuals, and Synthesia's AI avatars read your words in front of a custom background—just like a human actor would.

The company's stated use cases for the technology are:

  • Learning and development videos.
  • Personalized videos.
  • Corporate communications.
  • Product walkthrough videos.
  • SEO marketing videos.
  • Video chatbots.

For just $30 per month, you can use Synthesia to create up to 10 AI videos.

For each video, you can customize slides, scripts, AI avatars, and AI avatar voices.

We took the tool for a test drive by creating a (very) basic deepfake marketing  video introducing our Marketing AI Conference (MAICON)—our virtual event taking place September 13-14. (Click here to get your tickets at the lowest possible price!)

The video took about 15 minutes to create, then another 15 minutes to process and generate. In that time, Synthesia auto-moderates your content so you can't create videos with offensive language, and generates your custom AI avatar reading your script.
