LinkedIn Is Policing AI Slop, So Time to Reset

Written by Mike Kaput | Aug 12, 2026, 1:00:01 PM

LinkedIn just introduced a new option for users: "Seems like AI slop."

The feature, now available in LinkedIn’s three-dot menu where you can save or share a post, lets anyone flag content they believe was AI-generated. At the same time, LinkedIn replaced its "Enhance Your Post" AI writing tool with one that only proofreads.

The message from one of the world's most important professional platforms is clear: audiences want authentic writing and voices, not AI-generated slop.

Your Content Ranking Could Suffer

When users flag a post, LinkedIn plans to privately notify the creator through their analytics dashboard that members found it "inauthentic." The platform is tracking this, and the data will shape how content is surfaced and ranked over time.

So if you’re been leaning too heavily on AI to write your posts or comments on LinkedIn, it’s time to abandon the low-effort AI content generation and use that noggin of yours. What are you thinking, feeling, experiencing? How can your brand make others think, feel or experience?

Here’s a few things to think about as you reset.

A Practical Reset for Marketers

  • Audit your current LinkedIn content honestly. Pull your last 30 days of posts and ask: is there a human insight here that only someone with our experience could have written? If a post could have been written by any AI tool about any company, revamp it.
  • Shift AI's role from author to editor. Draft your own ideas first, even if they’re only rough notes, then use AI to organize, tighten, and polish. LinkedIn is now positioning its own AI tool this way. The thinking stays human. The production gets faster.
  • Anchor your content in specificity. Real data from your business. Actual outcomes from client work. Genuine opinions on what's happening in your industry. AI can help you write around those anchors but they have to come from you.
  • Build a voice source document. Capture your brand's genuine perspectives, recurring themes, and distinctive takes in a shared document. Use that as context when working with AI tools. This is how you scale content without losing what makes your brand worth following.
  • Watch your analytics differently. Comments and shares signal genuine resonance. Impressions alone don't. Now that LinkedIn is tracking authenticity signals, optimize for the former.

Remember: AI can meaningfully accelerate great content but the thinking behind it still has to be authentically yours.
